About us
Financial confidence, built one ledger entry at a time.
HL Hunt is a fintech group building the infrastructure for trustworthy credit, payments, and financial services — purpose-built for individuals and businesses too often overlooked by legacy institutions.
Why we exist.
A short answer to the only question that matters.
To strengthen financial opportunity and trust for people and businesses through transparent credit solutions, modern infrastructure, and product design that centers real-world outcomes — building toward a future where economic mobility is accessible by default.
From a single product to a comprehensive group.
HL Hunt began with a focused belief: credit and financial infrastructure should serve real people and operators — not the other way around. From that beginning we've built outward, deliberately.
The founding premise
Founded on a simple observation: traditional credit and financial systems leave the people who need them most without a path in. We started with a single product — a primary credit builder — and a commitment to do the unglamorous compliance work that legacy operators outsource or skip.
Building the stack
As the credit product matured, we built outward — Metro 2 reporting infrastructure, an AI underwriting engine (Hunt Score), and our merchant payment platform. Each piece reinforces the others. Proprietary infrastructure is slower, but it lets us own the standards we hold our products to.
The compliance foundation
We took the long path through state and federal licensing — not because it's fashionable, but because trusted financial services demand it. From NMLS-registered lending entities to BaaS partnerships with FDIC-insured banks, every product sits on a foundation we can document end-to-end.
The group, today
HL Hunt is now a group of complementary businesses spanning credit, payments, banking, AI underwriting, and bureau reporting — built deliberately to compound. We're still early, but the foundation is in place and the products are live. Our roadmap is grounded in compliance and member outcomes, not vanity growth.
Three pillars, one stack.
HL Hunt is structured as a group of specialized businesses that compound when used together — and stand on their own when used apart.
HL Hunt Financial
Membership-based credit solutions and fintech infrastructure that help consumers and businesses build credit, access purchasing power, and benefit from frictionless payment rails — backed by Metro 2 reporting, AI underwriting, and merchant-grade integrations.
HL Hunt Insurance
Tailored protection and risk-transfer solutions for modern life and business. Our underwriting pairs data-driven insight with personalized service, ensuring coverage that scales with how our clients actually live and operate.
HL Hunt Consulting
We partner with operators to design resilient financial operations, regulatory programs, and product go-to-market strategy. From Metro 2 reporting playbooks to fintech compliance frameworks, we deliver executional substance, not slides.
A unified suite, built piece by piece.
Each product is shipped or in active development — built to interoperate, and accessible standalone.
Built for trust at scale.
We don't outsource what matters. Our infrastructure, compliance posture, and security model are built in-house — auditable, traceable, and held to the same standards we'd demand from a bank.

The partners behind the rails.
HL Hunt doesn't operate in a vacuum. We've built deliberate relationships with the financial institutions, payment networks, and bureaus that make trustworthy products possible.
Banking Infrastructure
Our fintech banking products run on a Banking-as-a-Service partnership with an FDIC-insured sponsor bank. Deposits are bank-held; we focus on the product layer, with full regulatory backing underneath.
Payment Networks
HL Hunt Pay integrates with major card networks and ACH rails through partner processors. A tokenized payment vault means we stay processor-agnostic — no vendor lock-in, no single point of failure.
Credit Bureaus
We hold active reporting relationships across the major personal and commercial bureaus — including Experian, Equifax, TransUnion, Dun & Bradstreet, and the SBFE — submitting in standard Metro 2 format monthly.
Regulatory & Licensing
HL Hunt Lending LLC holds NMLS registration, with state-level lending and consumer credit licensing in progress across multiple jurisdictions. We work directly with regulators — never around them.
Responsible by design.
Three commitments we measure ourselves against — every product, every partnership, every quarter.
Outcomes over optics.
We measure the program by whether our members' lives actually get better — score improvements, doors opened, capital accessed. Nothing else counts.
The slow path is the only path.
We do the licensing. We submit Metro 2 the right way. We don't take shortcuts that put members at risk, even when shortcuts would grow us faster.
Bootstrapped, deliberate, owned.
HL Hunt is founder-owned and bootstrapped. We build what we'd want to use ourselves, and we move at the pace the work demands — not the pace investors would set.
Build something with us.
